How PEARC25 is Organized
There are six major components of the Conference:
Tutorials & Workshops
Monday is Tutorials and Workshops Day. Members of the PEARC25 community are offering a slate of half- and full-day options on a wide range of topics. Learn more in the Call for Participation – Tutorials & Workshops.
Plenary Sessions
Plenary sessions are organized by the conference committee and PEARC Steering Committee, typically held in the morning to accommodate all attendees in the main/largest ballroom at the conference. Plenary sessions include presentations such as:
- Opening Ceremonies (Tuesday)
- Keynote Speakers (Tuesday-Thursday)
- Technical Program Awards (Thursday)
Technical Program
At the heart of the conference is the Technical Program, providing multiple forums for sharing research, development, discovery, and demonstrations of expanded capabilities or applications for high performance computing, networking, data storage, visualization, workflow orchestration, workforce development, and collaboration. Content is presented across several formats:
- Technical Track Presentations on short or long papers published in the conference proceedings and are also considered for certain conference awards, including awards specifically for students. Technical Tracks are as follows:
- Applications & Software
- Systems & Systems Software
- Workforce Development, Training, Education & Community
- Presentation-Only sessions create a space for important conversations about human, operational, and organizational aspects of research computing and data support, complementing the technical focus of the other tracks.
- Panels bring together several speakers from multiple organizations to share varying perspectives on timely topics and/or projects of community interest, incorporating audience question & answer.
- Birds-of-a-Feather (BOF) Sessions gather community members for whole-room facilitated discussion and/or crowdsourcing a topic of shared interest, sometimes aligned with or coordinated by an organization or initiative in the community. Formats vary, but may include the use of breakout groups, in-room surveying, and other real-time engagement mechanisms.
- Poster & Visualization Showcase present opportunities to engage with presenters of posters and visualization demonstrations. Awards are given for the Best Poster and Best Student Poster. Many presenters will have their posters up for attendees to view prior to and after the showcase.
Community-Building & Networking
There are a number of socializing and networking opportunities throughout the conference, including registration-included lunches and refreshment breaks, orientation and networking events specifically for first-time attendees and for accepted student program participants, co-located receptions or other gatherings of community organizations (some invitation-only), and evening social events for all attendees (including a by-registration evening social outing and the Poster & Visualization Showcase).
Exhibitor Forum
Our exhibitor community is an essential part of the PEARC25 conference. In fact, it would be difficult (maybe even impossible) to host this conference without their support. This year, our Platinum level exhibitors – DDN/Intel Habana, Dell Technologies/AMD, and Microsoft, are hosting workshops on Monday and our first ever Diamond-level exhibitor – Cambridge Computer – will host a special Thursday afternoon workshop. So, plan your travel accordingly. You can find the full schedule of Exhibitor Forum workshops in the conference schedule or the CVENT app. We encourage you to visit our exhibitors in the Mezzanine Foyers (Grand Ballroom level, 2nd Floor) on Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
The Exhibitor Forum is open to all registered attendees.
Student Program
The PEARC25 conference strives to build and support a strong and diverse HPC workforce by supporting student attendees at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, through designated student development sessions, opportunities to learn from mentors, and engagement with the entirety of the PEARC conference program. The Student Program Schedule includes special student-centered events, including introductions to technical topics, an internship spotlight, a mentor program, structured interactions with exhibitors, a resume workshop, and The Village, where a variety of student training models – including competitions – are showcased via a tabling event with posters. Table hosts are available to answer questions during ‘office hours’ on M-W evenings. The Student Program also provides volunteers who help the conference run smoothly.
Student programs are open to registered students, mentors, and invited contributors. Application details appear under the ‘Student Program’ section of the conference website as conference registration details are released.
Co-located Workshops & Meetings
To broaden the impact of the PEARC25 conference, we have made possible the co-location of workshops and meetings that align closely in scope and mission.
Many of these co-located events are open to registered conference attendees, but several are by invitation-only. Please refer to the conference schedule for details. Learn more in the Call for Participation – In Conjunction with Events.
