Accessibility and Belonging at the PEARC Conference
PEARC is dedicated to creating a conference environment that embraces a wide range of voices, perspectives, and experiences. Our goal is to ensure that all attendees feel included, valued, and supported. The Committee for Accessibility and Belonging (CAB) builds upon the foundations established by past and current committee chairs and volunteers and is supported by the PEARC Steering Committee, the PEARC Executive Committee, and the ACM DEI Council. Together, we aim to cultivate a vibrant and engaging community that celebrates the unique contributions of each PEARC attendee.
The Committee for Accessibility and Belonging is committed to ensuring accessibility and belonging are woven into every aspect of conference planning and fostering a welcoming, safe, and empowering space for everyone. Over the years, the Committee has adopted a variety of accessibility and belonging best practices and leverages attendee feedback to address considerations such as:
- ensuring the meeting venue is accessible for all attendees
- ensuring the conference program is accessible to all attendees
- addressing dietary needs
- providing a quiet space during conference activities
- raising awareness about the conference’s Code of Conduct and providing a safe process for reporting violations
We encourage attendees to provide feedback directly to conference organizers and during the post-conference survey on how organizers might continue to improve the PEARC Conference experience.
