Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

PEARC23 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement

Freedom of thought, expression, and the open exchange of ideas are central to the scientific research community at large, and PEARC is committed to providing an equitable and inclusive forum that supports these rights for all. We want every participant to feel welcome at the conference. We aim to provide a safe, respectful, and harassment-free conference environment for everyone involved regardless of age, sex, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, nationality, ability, or religious beliefs.

Our community does not tolerate harassment of conference participants. We expect all interactions between attendees to be respectful and constructive, including interactions during the review process, at the conference itself, and on social media. PEARC conference participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the conference (without a refund) at the discretion of the conference organizers.

We value inclusion and access for all participants and are pleased to provide reasonable accommodations for this event. The Oregon Convention Center is wheelchair accessible, has all user restrooms, and provides access to Mamava Lactation rooms. The travel grant is intended to offset travel expenses such as hotels, airfare, and local transportation. If you are in need of an early career travel grant, please apply today.

Dependent Care Travel Grants

To support the goal of broadening representation across the full spectrum of our community and to make attendance possible for those who have dependent care responsibilities, the PEARC23 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) subcommittee is providing a Dependent Care Travel Grant program for PEARC23 Conference attendees.

The travel grant is intended to offset travel expenses of dependents and/or caregivers accompanying the attendee to the conference, or the cost of in-home care while the attendee is away.
